Words defiantly fail to express how my life has been the last few weeks. Everyone has their doubts about going to college, starting a new life away from your parents (hopefully) and with new people but I have to say the transition for me has been effortless. I am so grateful for my roommates and suitemates and oh so glad that we all get along pretty well. Life in America has been good. I need to be a bit more careful with my finances but I applied for a job at Jamba Juice and even though they haven't contacted me or Elyse, my hopes are still up high because well I'm sure Jamba will hire anyone who isn't a pedophile or a mass murderer.
My first Black Friday was alright. I guess I wasn't all that into it because well I've been shopping nonstop since I got here but I got some decent DVD purchases and good thrift store steals. It's good to be with Mo and roar. I just can't hate life right now even though school is raping me in the face.
Paris Part One
I wanted to start with a rant but decided against it. I know you're suppose to respect your elders and all but ugggggggh. I had my entire tirp planned out and then it became Eurotrip: Senior Edition. My tirp was still fun nonetheless and this gives me an excuse to come again.
I absolutely adore both Paris and London. I guess I have fonder memories of London but that might be because I actually understood what people were saying and where I was going. If it was not for the painfully obvious language barrier, I would move to Paris in a heartbeat. Transporation is savvy, there's history everywhere, the weathers amazing and the people are SO PRETTY. The one thing that definitely threw me off about Paris was the fact that they get like...four more hours of sunlight than most other countries. It gets dark at around 10:30! Dude, wtfffff? And the excessive amounts of dog poop along the streets isn't so great but my three beefs can be easily overlooked. I didn't get to spend enough time in London, pssh two days is nothing! But I really liked London's subway system and their taxis are huuuuuge.
The first day was probably the most productive as we: got all my pesky visa stuff done, visited the Arc de Triumph, some church and Notre Dame. I think churches were one of my favorite things about this trip. Westminster Abbey was really pretty but a bit too cluttered and not nearly as breathtaking as Notre Dame which is gorgeous from every angle, inside and out. The inner history geek had to see Versailles and the Hall of Mirrors so the Palace plus Fontainebleau were visited the following day. Hot DAMN the French knew how to live! I thought having floorboards on the ceiling was pretty awesome, they had freakin universes on there's. The Palace was defiantly a notch up from Fontainebleau, both had beautiful gardens that went on forever but Fontainebleau was their hunting retreat and it was like...attached to a forest. Normandy was also visited, seafood was consumed and chocolate was purchased. We did some mild shopping, mostly at Lafayette where I bought MBMJ flats that were half off :P
London
This was like London in 15 minutes. The first day we went to the British Museum and I fell in love with their ancient Greek statue section. I loved anything that was missing a limb, part of their face, their head, as long as it was damaged in some way. I can be such a weirdo. Then to Harrolds we went! I swear I walked inside the front doors and thought I had died and gone to heaven. But a third of our trio was old/tired/stubborn and I barely got to do any shopping which made me supersupersuper bummed. I wanted to see the city on my own but I caved in and signed us up for a "Discovering London" full day tour. We saw the basics: Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Tower of London. Went to Paul Smith, had British food and then made it back to Paris via Eurostar. I love trains! Well, I guess compared to my last train ride (27 hours), the two incidents on Eurostar were heaven.
Paris Part Two
Louvre'd it. Followed by more shopping and then we were homebound. The last night I got stuck in a tricky situation. My mum lying in bed next to me, about to sleep and all I can hear are two people fucking like whoa upstairs. It went on for at least half and hour and had to be, hands down, the most awkward situation I've ever been in.
Conclusion: I want to go again :(
First thing is first. This whole...graduating thing? SURREAL! I mean...hahaha what the hell? I've been at BWYA for four years. Hell, I've been in China for four years. When did this happen?! Last time I checked I was still getting up at 7 on Saturdays so I could chat with my friends and watching Lord of the Rings whenever I was tired or bored or sad or feeling any emotions. In five days, my high school journey will finally be complete; I have washed my hands of Beijing World Youth Academy and I'm not sure how I feel about it all. I mean...really? I'm done? Like...really?! I've convinced myself that filling the void is going to be easy. I'll watch movies, go to the gym, clean my room and really enjoy the city I've spent so many years in. But right now it feels like one of those "easier said than done" scenarios. Weird huh?
So yeah. Vacation. I defiantly have an exciting summer ahead of me. The next week is going to be damn hectic. I have to figure out how to set up the Graduation Ceremony, plan Grad Dinner, bake like eight different things for the Bake Sale, finish the photo board for Grad, convince my mom to let me sleep over at Mia's next weekend, plan Susie's going away day and get pretty for prom. ME SO BUSY. But I'm excited. Genuinely excited about graduating. Closure freakin' rocks.
Twenty-one days until graduation. All is visible and all elusive, all is near but can't be touched. This is what we've been working towards for the last two years. Ten days, fourteen exams and a piece of paper put an end to endless nights, gallons of coffee and bags under our eyes. Thankfully the first exam is English P1 so I there's no need to study. I'm content with the test schedule. Next Monday will be brutal with both Chinese P1 and P2 and Math P1. Come to think of it, that entire week is pretty painful but then I'll be more than halfway done.
We're starting to make Post-Exam plans. Although we originally planned to head over to Hainan, maybe Hong Kong and get our tans on. It seems fairly unrealistic seeing as everyone has plans with their family and I'm not sure how I feel about traveling to another city without adult supervision. Instead I think we're going to rip apart Beijing and really see the sights and enjoy the town we've been living in for the last four years. As for the Huang Family, Europe is looking good. We're defiantly going to Paris and London but I would really love to see Italy and maybe even Germany. We'll probably also hit up Hawaii and Las Vegas. I'm going to head back to good ol' Cali for good late August because Orientation doesn't start until late September. New York will be reserved for this winter when I meet up with Susie and we'll go attack Colbert together. Even if we can't see his show, I'm totally willing to sit outside the studio and wait for a glimpse of the one and only. The other things on my "Do in 2007" list is check out a reeeaallly concert and somehow meet the Winchesters.
Well I watched a few movies this week and the most notable were 300 and Stranger than Fiction. I really enjoyed both. Mainly because 300 is muscle!porn but Stranger Than Fiction was really refreshing and smart. I loved all the added little graphics and Buster Bluth was super cute. I absolutely adored when Harold showed up at Ana's house with "flours". Gosh, real boys need to take some notes! I'm all caught up with Ugly Betty, which is most def one of my new favorite shows. I was really unsure about it at first because it sort of sounded like The Devil Wears Prada extended over a months but Ugly Betty is really entertaining. The first episode totally got me all choked up. I love Marc and Amanda's relationship and Daniel Meade is freakin' guh! Speaking of favorite shows, House wasn't as interesting as I had hoped it would be but I guess that's because Cameron is no longer sexing Chase and House won't sex Cuddy. Supernatural was fantastic. Dean was totally going to explode form his orange jumpsuit and I'm really excited about next weeks episode. Deancentric episodes pwn. Heroes was crazy and now I know everyone is a douchebag in the future. I'm not diggin' Grey as much as I use to.
On the music front, I'm totally loving the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack and new The Academy Is...Oh and facebook is fucking addictive! Bah!
I can't take it anymore! The slow, agonizing wait for replies is killing me.
I just want to go to college D:
